Goodbye Forever

So blogger is discontinuing support for the way that I update this blog. It means that I am starting a new one and that this one will disappear. Most of the drawings and photos will get integrated into my much more professional-seeming website: www.rockwellfarmer.com.
Here is a link to the new blog: berniemcgovern.blogspot.com.

It's exciting to have all of their neat gadgets at my disposal finally. To celebrate here is the best Nasa Porn I can find in under 5 minutes:

Disaster Averted

After a little reinstalling of Windows, everything is finally all right. A cause to celebrate with a mindballooning image from the new Vista telescope:

Space Beers with Seldon

I'm home & safe. I didn't so much take any photos while on my trip but it was so very much fun. Half the time I was thinking of the following: How much I love flying, NY's endless dark skyline, & dark matter (wah wah)

Nerd OVERLOAD

Between the beautiful freelance opportunities and preparing for my little trip to New York for the weekend, I've managed to be sucked into the irresistible pull of Celestia: the free space simulation program. I can finally, personally travel to any known galaxy or nebula. Finally. Below I'm sharing a picture of Earth, where Chicago is obviously the center of everything in the universe and an image playfully titled as NGC 2207 vs IC 2163:

Almost Nasa Porn

Ever wonder if protons will ever decay on their own, even in 100 billion years? Duh, who doesn't? So do the hypnotising orbs that line the walls of the Super-Kamiokande - My little brain reels:

A Week Later

About a week ago:
I saw Brandon Campbell's beautiful puppet utilized in a great performance of Frank Zappa's Joe's Garage at Martyrs March 9:
Jess & I ogled over primates and tigers at Lincoln Park Zoo:
And without fail, I continue to swoon over the mysteries of the universe, like supernovas that expand unimaginably quickly but seem to trickle:

Super Silly String Theory & Cute-Cup Over Floweth

My continued infatuation with String Theory, a boner for Dodecahedrons, & dreams in the theme of the Golden Ratio:
My allegiance to Howard Barker, that fine brained gentleman, is reignited. Time to rent 20 more of his plays from the library~ Yes!
And Michelle sent me an incredible sequence of a newborn panda growing. Aw shit it's cute:
Fuck you! You're so cute my brain's leaking out m'shoes!

Mountains of Stars

Stars that fit into pentagons are a major part of the bloated graphic novel in progress, An Army of Lovers will be Beaten. So here I'm sharing some illustrations from Matila Ghyka's book The Geometry of Art and Life:
Plus one random Google Image search item that illustrates a fractal dodecahedron-sphere, much like how some theorize the universe is shaped. Enter one side and pop out the other. Well, if you were residual microwaves from the big bang at least.
Holy crap!

BUH!

The success of last night's experiment helps us all sleep a little better & keeps my eye on the little miracles in life. Those Swiss geniuses & their Super Collider Beast justifiably leads Alexis Madrigal to call it the "new Chuck Norris, capable of, and culpable for, everything from creating Milk Duds to causing celibacy."

NASA Porn: Andromeda

Yes it's the Andromeda Galaxy. The very nearest galaxy there is! The light we see from it has taken 2 million years to reach our inconsequential eyes. My brain is blown quite wide open. It is so bright that if we didn't live in a gigantic bulbous city we could see it with our naked eyes. The world of Earth makes me weep. Maybe some lightning-struck kitten out there understands.
Yuck yuck yuck
Drill me some love, master. Show us the REAL truth.
Floating in a vacuum.
